Handing Out Holiday Cheer

For our service project we went to Aurora Summit Hospital before Christmas to play music on our instruments while handing out cookies.  Since we played in the hospital lobby our project impacted patients, employees, and any other visitors that day.
We chose this project because we thought Christmas was a good time to spread cheer and bring a smile to peoples' faces.  We also already knew the volunteer coordinator from our summer volunteering so it was fairly easy to set up.  Our project was very successful.  Many people stopped to take a cookie and to thank us for playing.  Other visitors came and sat in the lobby just to listen.  We learned how much strangers can appreciate such a simple act.  All we did was stand, play music, and hand out cookies and people were very appreciative.  Some even asked if we had a cause and offered up donations.  However, we told them our cause was simply to bring a little joy around the holidays.
